Matcha Tea

Ceremonial Matcha

Every sip of our ceremonial matcha carries the centuries-old knowledge and care of Japanese tea masters. It comes from the misty mountains of Uji, where the leaves are hand-selected and then stone-ground using traditional millstones. This is not just tea—it is a true Japanese ritual.

Every dawn, while the world is still quiet, our farmers walk along the paths of shaded tea gardens, tending to the tea plants with the same care as if each one were their own. The very first, most tender spring leaves are hand-picked, so that months of patience and attention can be felt in every sip. The uniqueness of our ceremonial matcha comes not only from its vibrant jade-green color and silky, umami-rich taste, but also from the passion and dedication passed down through generations—carefully preserved in every batch.

The Story of Your Matcha

The creation of our ceremonial matcha is a true art form: the youngest leaves are shade-grown and then hand-harvested to preserve the tea’s freshness and rich flavor profile. They are slowly and carefully stone-ground using traditional granite mills, resulting in a vibrant green matcha with a silky texture that brings the unique experience of the Japanese tea ceremony into every sip.

Everything you need to know

How to make the perfect matcha

Making matcha is a mindful, slowing-down ritual that connects you to the centuries-old traditions of the Japanese tea ceremony. Here’s how you can prepare your own perfect cup:

Water Temperature

Heat the water to 70–80 °C. Boiling water can easily make matcha bitter – patience is what brings perfection here.

Dosage

Use 1–2 grams (½ teaspoon) of matcha powder. If possible, sift it beforehand to remove any lumps and achieve a truly smooth, silky texture.

Mixing Technique

Add 60–80 ml of hot water. Whisk vigorously for 15–20 seconds using W- or M-shaped motions until a light foam forms on the surface. This is where the magic happens—the foam should be smooth and creamy.

Extra Tip

For a latte, first mix the matcha with a small amount of hot water to form a smooth paste, then add your preferred warmed milk. For an iced matcha, whisk it with cold water first, then pour it over ice.

Not all matcha is created equal. Understanding the grades helps you choose the perfect one for your needs:

Ceremonial

The highest grade of matcha, made from the youngest tea leaves, with an exceptionally smooth flavor and a vibrant green color.

Recommended: For traditional tea ceremonies, enjoying on its own, and special occasions.

Premium

High quality with a rich flavor profile, perfect for everyday enjoyment.

Recommended: For everyday matcha lattes, smoothies, and mixing with milk.

Barista

Creamy, well-balanced flavor that holds up nicely in both dairy and plant-based drinks.

Recommended: For lattes, iced drinks, smoothies, and recipe experiments.

💡 Quick Tip: Look for a vibrant green color, a finely milled texture, and a fresh aroma. Good matcha has a slightly sweet, fresh “grassy” scent—never musty or dull.

Matcha is delicate, so it requires proper care to preserve its vibrant color and fresh flavor:

  • Store it in an airtight container, protected from light, heat, and moisture.
  • Keep it in the refrigerator for maximum freshness (allow it to come to room temperature before opening).
  • Use within 2–4 months after opening for the best flavor.
  • Unopened and stored in the refrigerator, it can retain its freshness for up to 24 months.
  • Always use a dry spoon—moisture is matcha’s biggest enemy.

Beyond the taste experience, matcha is a real “health powerhouse”:

Rich in Antioxidants

It contains up to 137× more EGCG than traditional green tea, thereby supporting health and vitality at the cellular level.

Calm Energy

L-theanine provides calm yet focused alertness without jitters—perfect for mindful, productive work.

Metabolic Support

Its natural compounds may help stimulate metabolism and support healthy weight management.

Chlorophyll & Natural Detoxification

The shade-grown leaves are particularly rich in chlorophyll, which supports the body’s natural detoxification processes.
